Myrrh resin is a natural aromatic gum obtained from the myrrh tree (Commiphora myrrha), which grows throughout the Arabian Peninsula and East Africa. It is one of the oldest aromatic and medicinal substances known to Arab, Egyptian, Indian, and Chinese civilizations, having been used for thousands of years in incense, traditional wellness practices, skincare, and spiritual rituals. It is characterized by its warm, deep aroma with woody, earthy, and balsamic notes, and has long been regarded as a symbol of purity, cleansing, and inner balance in many traditional cultures. As a natural resin, it may contain impurities and plant particles; therefore, it is generally recommended for incense use or for preparing an infusion, rather than being chewed or swallowed directly.
