Wheat or gluten protein is fully used in seitan, a preparation with a long oriental tradition. Its homemade is not difficult, but it takes a long time. For this reason, MIMASA’s organic seitan is offered ready-made, with natural systems, without additives and with a pleasant taste and texture. It is composed of wheat flour, tamari, gluten, ginger, garlic (all of them from organic farming) and kombu seaweed.
Seitan is an ideal food for growing children and to ensure a healthy diet, due to its high protein content. For the same reason, its consumption is also recommended in athletes, elderly people, people with digestive problems and in weight loss regimes.
Seitan is a plant protein that the body absorbs very well. Unlike meat of animal origin, it does not leave acid residues. It should be noted that meat only provides 21% protein. But more important is the assimilation rate of this protein, very low compared to the assimilation of soy or wheat proteins, which are much higher. Therefore, small amounts of seitan are enough to get a good supply of vegetable proteins.
Softer and more digestible than other protein-rich foods such as meat, eggs or milk, etc., seitan is also low in calories and fat. It has more calcium and minerals than meat, and less salt, in addition to ensuring that antibiotics, hormones or other substances used in fattening animals are not present. FORM OF CONSUMPTION
It can be consumed directly, stewed for a few minutes with vegetables or battered. Cut into slices and fry with garlic and parsley until golden brown.
